SSIM Student @ Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (April 27, 2023 to May 5, 2023)

The Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative was announced by the Government of India to commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The main objective of this initiative was to strengthen the unity and integrity of India by enhancing the understanding and mutual respect towards the culture, tradition, and practices of different states and union territories of India.

SSIM student Narishetty Balaraj, a student of 32nd PGDM batch of 2022-24, was a part of this prestigious initiative for the year 2023. He was one of the 630 students who applied for this initiative among which only 45 students were selected for taking the cultural integration trip from Telangana
(NIT Warangal) to IIT Roorkee.

The journey started at NIT Warangal and included:

  • An industrial visit to Ambuja Cements;
  • Cultural exchange program at the IIT Roorkee campus;
  • Visit to the Aryabhatta Research Institute Of Observational Sciences (ARIES);
  • Exploring IIT Roorkee campus;
  • Visiting the popular religious lands of Haridwar and Rishikesh;
  • Visiting the rural villages and meeting the village administrators to understand their
    development initiatives

While doing this, he certainly became an integral part of the culturally rich Yuva Sangam (Youth Confluence) 2023.

Events at SSIM:

There is never a dreary moment at SSIM. Academics aside, we organise and participate in an array of activities. It’s a diverse community with students from across India. Our pedagogy is holistic and allows our students to become well-tailored individuals, when they step into the Physical world.

Life at SSIM is thus a beautiful blend of academics and activities that help students to develop as good human beings. Most of the evenings, students spend at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for self-study and also discuss with other students exploring interpersonal learning for our case presentation, book reviews, article reviews and the like.

A typical college day starts at 9:30am and ends by 4:00pm, with four sessions scheduled each day. Some of the students have the opportunity to assist faculty in various academic and non-academic activities across different departments, such as Placement Executive Committee Members (PECs), Class Coordinators, and Event Coordinators. There are various other activities, wherein students are involved. To quote a few activities of our Institutional Social Responsibility, SSGI conducted an Inter school competition from 12th to 14th February, 2020. Another ISR activity was held at Jeedimetla Government School, conducted by SSIM faculty and students. Our faculty and students work hand-in-hand with each other to organise the ISR activities to create a stronger bond between them.

We also organise sports activities in nearby government schools to give students an exposure to business school and its ambience. This gives us immense pleasure, as it creates an inclusive environment. Speaking about the environment, we implemented the “One Student – One Tree” initiative, which was launched by the then Hon’ble HRD Minister of the Union Cabinet, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on 20th August, 2019.

The struggles and Challenges we face may seem overwhelming at times, but each of us understands and manages our challenges differently. To help our students understand themselves better we organise Self-Awareness activities. We participate in Bicycle Rallies and Marathons organised by other entities with a fun quotient, to emphasise on the students’ physical health and well-being, The outbound training workshops are a part of SSIM’s induction Program for helping students in skills improvement through, team work, team bonding, communication, leadership, problem solving, decision making, motivation, change and personal development.

Our hostellers connect with each other a game of sport in the evening or weekends which lets them have a healthy camaraderie. Our students also explore their talent in Theatre arts, Dance and such other extracurricular activities which enhance their confidence, emotional quotient and social intelligence.
